Our Family Unscripted!

This is what REALLY goes on behind the closed doors of our household! It's not as exciting as you would like to believe...

Well it's happening!

The Thanksgiving rush is upon us! I am making two, not one but two maple pumpkin cheesecakes today because I have decided that I do have time and it's really not that hard to do one more really. I am sharing the extra one with the neighbors, just a piece for each of our closest neighbors. And then I am taking the other one to M's parents and then the other half of that to my parents. You ask why I am only sharing half with each family? Because each year that I have done this, we come back home with a full cheesecake. We don't' need that especially this year when M and I are both here at the house more often than not!

Other than that we have secured an Elmo Couch for J, I was very happy to find a clean looking one at Toys-R-Us, instead of what I had been subjected to looking at for the past 6 weeks. Fear made me buy it! Seriously, I bought it early because I didn't want to go to TRU the day after Thanksgiving and try to get it and I was afraid they would be gone. So my nervousness is now gone!

I really need to post some pictures of him. So here you go.

Lots of Misc thoughts....

Okay I have decided that I really don't like the blogging idea and I am thinking of shutting it down. Maybe my goal should be to only do 1 post a month. I think that's attainable don't you? Yes, that's what I will do.

As we near the holidays, J is becoming so much more fun! I just want to get him everything in the world so that he can enjoy it and because he enjoys it, and now I see why kids have so many toys and things in general! I said I would not be like that when I was a parent and look at me now! I still have a handle on things but it's slowly slipping out of my grasp! :) It gets worse as he gets older! It wasn't as hard last year but we have reached a turning point this year.

Lots of uncertainty with M and Ford... but we are trusting that it's all in the Lord's hands and when the decisions are made, if they affect us directly then we will cross that bridge when we come to it. We have no more control now than we have ever had over the decisions made there, so we'll see how this pans out.

Had a great night at Bunko last night and was sitting at a table with Jane who brought up fond memories of our soul group, way back when... before we all had kids and were committed to coming to get together because we liked each other. WE both agree that we missed our soul group and missed the members of our soul group. Where are those simpler times? :)

Trying this again

Update... Rascal Flatts Concert and Taylor Swift was alot of fun...except the drunk people across the isle who I'm not quite sure were 21 and I kept wondering how are they getting all the alcohol they are drinking??? But I had a good time with C overall.

The Ryder Cup was alot of fun as well. I hope we get to go to another PGA event in the future, I would love to do it again. The prices for food....(26.00 for us to have lunch, which consisted of 2 pulled pork sandwiches, 1 bag of chips and 2 -20oz bottles of pepsi.) YIKES. But we survived that as well.

Medical update....When I met with the neurosurgeon, he was optimistic. He was leaning towards a Spinal cord inflammation. Since then my symptoms have continued to go away for the most part. I pray they are staying away forever. The reality is, all glory needs to go to God because I had alot of people praying for me. I never doubted that God had a plan in all this, but was ready to take whatever he allowed me to have.

Exciting week coming up!

I have an exciting week coming up so I thought I would post something ahead of time HOPING that it will encourage me to post when the week is over.

The Ryder Cup is here in Louisville for the first and last time in our lifetime. Probably, anyway. So M and I have tickets to Tuesday's practice round. We are so excited! I hope to get some good pics and perhaps I will post them on here when I do!

Thursday is the Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift concert that I am going to with my sister C. It starts at 8pm at night! I don't think that I have been going out somewhere like that since...... well before J was born. I'll have to take a nap and rest up that day!

Updates on the boy...J not M. He is walking and running and is starting to repeat his own version of what you said after you. His favorite is ba-bal (Basketball). He is learning SO quickly. Things he couldn't do a few weeks ago, he can do. It's amazing that he is growing up SO fast. That's all for now.

Thank you..... and good night. Oh and here's a new pic of the boy.

I think I can, I think I can...

After a few tries and some extra time on my hands, I have now figured out how to post pics in other places than the bottom of my page. Thanks to all of you that had posting like this that made me think, "If they did it, I can do it too!"

it's been forever...

Yes, I know it's been forever. But I am not good enough to keep up with this. I thought it would be easier than this. Okay are you happy? I admit, I have failed... to keep you up on the day to day happenings of my life!

Okay J---is now taking steps... up to 4 at a time by himself, I think he just started last week... he thinks he is hot stuff. And he when he isn't walking, he goes around crawling saying ba-ba...ba ba ba ba ba ... no idea what that means, but I don't think that it is ma ma or da da. So we'll see what he comes up with next! Also his top 2 teeth are poking through! Yea! he has been a little cranky lately and I was pretty sure this was why, although I could be wrong, i have been before and if you are unsure of a specific time, please see the first paragraph.

Mark is working days for two weeks, so very hard getting used to for us... So I am trying to keep Joshua occupied all day, which I do pretty well at however, after a certain point, I am not who he wants to see. So I am very thankful for Mark's return.

Other than that..hmm..I'll have to posts some new pics soon. J---loves the water in the swimming pools unless it's really cold (during playgroup time, it's freezing! )

The new pics will have to come later, for now I have run out of time!

The Naked Mole Rats Rise Again!

For those of you that were in my Soul Group you will know what I am talking about at the zoo... the meerkats... aka...the Naked mole rats. My neighbor and I took our little men to the zoo yesterday, beautiful day for it. And while her little guy was enthralled with the giraffes who were all three in their holding cell while the baby ate it's portion of the food outside, J was tickled by the meerkats. I got him out of his stroller and when he finally saw what I was pointing at, he let out a little "hee." That's his pleased laugh right now. He just kept watching them fight with one another and play. So that was cute to see and we will have to make sure that we don't miss those next time! Cause we missed them last time!

Well, most of you might already know by now that my numbness has gotten a little bit better. I am not "as numb" as I once was. So I just hope that it all goes away soon, cause there are still things that are difficult for me, like sleeping (on my left side is not the best option) and things like that. But I am doing well overall, my appetite is not affected nor is my sense of humor!

Other than that...I would like to sound off on gas prices...and Ford. They are making vacation planning a little less enjoyable this year. Look....I just want to take J to the beach... is that too much to ask? Can you just give me a set schedule and then stick with it? That's all for now.

Thank you and good night America!

No time for this...

This whole blogging thing is incredibly time consuming! That's probably why I stick with email and other things of that nature. I wanted to give an update about my health to those who may or may not get emails etc. My back MRI was normal and therefore probably presents no real urgency for the neurologist with whom I have an appointment scheduled for August 1. There is a cancellation waiting list and I asked to be put on that. So maybe I will have an appointment sooner than what was originally made for me!

I am still numb from my waist down and it's starting to wear on me a little bit. I just need prayers for healing and to help with my attitude towards this period in my life.

One more for the road!

Does it bother anyone else that we who are blogging and Facebooking are in essence saying, we really don't care that much about our privacy anymore? Especially if we don't set our blogs to private. We are just giving up rights to anybody who wants to read about our lives. I mean I know that the gov't could come in here at any point and tap into anything, but does it bother anyone else out there?

You're so Vain, you probably think this blog is about you....

Well, the waiting begins again. I had an MRI of my back (lumbar spine to be exact) done today. Not nearly as bad as the other one was, probably because I knew what I was walking into. I even got to listen to music in headphones this time. I think they will probably have the results ready on Friday at the dr's office. I hope there are some answers. Watch, they will probably be like... nope you are just fine!

On a J note.... he has switched nursery classes which has worked better than I thought that it would. Not that he can't hold his own cause he can...i think I was the one who was holding him back! Anyway, he pulled up to his feet on one of those push and go toys last night and took like 3 or 4 steps. Then he did it again later on. Maybe this is all quite normal for his age right now, but I was simply amazed. But he probably saw another child do it in his nursery class. He also wrote an overture last night for the baby Einstein opera edition. In a typical, first born, over achiever fashion, he is moving right along!

Saturday Night Fever

All my blood work came back normal! Yeah! That was a call at 7:15am this morning from my doctor.... who in the heck calls at 7:15am? But anyway... We took J to the pediatrician today for his 9 month check up. He's doing well if you all haven't seen him in a while.

Then, after I dropped the boys off, I went to the chiropractor who said he didn't take appointments. Issue #1... So I signed in to a sign in sheet at the receptionist desk, with no receptionist and sat down and picked up a People magazine. 45 minutes later I am still waiting to be seen and there is one person in front of me! i thought, I am going to be here for 3 hours! Vowing that I will see this guy today and then go somewhere else where they take appointments, thinking I have no time for this.... Finally, he comes and gets the lady and says I will be with you in a little while. I'm thinking well obviously, all these people have all day to sit around at the chiropractors office just waiting their turn, but I do not. But she only took like 5 min.

So I go back there and it's a throw back form the 70's. I don't think they have updated anything since then. But then we start talking and he takes x-rays also on very 70's equipment. I am thinking, How much bad stuff am I really putting into my body at this point? But he goes and develops them in his back room.. comes out, we chat and then he works on my back...

At the end of the visit, he gets out this blue tape and put three pieces on my back and stomach. He says this will trick my muscles into going the opposite way so they will unconstrict faster etc. I'm still not totally sure. He said if it starts to come off I can retape it with something else. He also says it's waterproof, so I should be able to leave it on for a few days!!!!! And that he could sell me a roll so I could keep putting this on for like the rest of my life! WHAT?!??! By 4pm it had half fallen off, and lost it's stickiness...so I took the rest of it off. I mean come on, picking up and putting down J and then holding him...are you serious? That stuff would only stay on if it's Duct tape and I refuse to donate my body to science.

Needless to say, I will give this guy another shot on Wednesday and see if he can further help anything along. I have no idea how long it will take to see results. But it's probably a good idea that I went to see him when I did.

It really is all about me!

Yes folks, as you might have guessed, this blog will probably contribute to the size of my already large ego.  I used my son as a cover story and sure I'll post pics of how he is crawling and pulling up on things and write about how he loves being outside and is so cute when he rubs his feet in the grass while sitting in the grass every now and then, but if I can't get time on Cable Access (not because I have tried--but I would still like to), am not going to run for City Council here in Mt. Washington, (although I am pretty sure if I just had the money for the publicity aspect of things, I think I could win), or probably won't enter into real estate sales for at least another 20 years, then dag gone it...I am going to have something that is indeed all about me!

I want to give a shout out to AC, who made a comment in my previous blog, for those of you that would like to reference where the idea for this blog originated !

So please stay tuned for further narcissistic episodes as they are recorded here where everyone can read about and maybe even relate to them, because at this point, I have no shame.

It's confirmed! I am normal!

Okay, if you haven't seen on facebook, via email or any other type of communication. The MRI came back normal! So I have another dr. appointment on Friday. So we'll see where that leads us! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

No news is good news right?

No news on my test results. I did call yesterday afternoon and nothing had come through, so I'll call again this afternoon. Hopefully, I'll have something to report.

Am I walking into a set from Star trek?

Okay, so I had my MRI done today. The first part lasted 30 minutes with the instructions: you may breathe, swallow and blink your eyes. So of course you know that everything in your body that could possibly itch started itching! But I knew, from reading on the internet, that if they stop in the middle of the process, they have to start all over. So I was too stubborn to let that happen.

Have any of you had an MRI done lately? You walk into this room and it looks like a hovering spacecraft suspended from the thing that would keep a spacecraft in place. Anyway, I get situated, and they push my "board type thing" that I am laying on underneath this thing. It's like off white and 30 feet wide or so. So technically it's not a tunnel that you might have seem on tv, it's open, but it's not like I can sit up, cause that would ruin the scan.

Regardless, she gave me earplugs  for the "jack hammering" sound that would take place, and pads for my head that would keep my head in place if I fell asleep (which remarkably I didn't do) and a helmet that would keep my head from moving as well. And she gave me blankets to keep me warm. She also gave me something in my left hand that I could squeeze at any point if I needed to stop, which was reassuring.

After 30 minutes, she stopped the machine, pulled me out, injected some dye in my arm for contrast on the scan and 10 minutes later I was done!

So the doctor's office gets the results tomorrow or the next day. I really hope they call me with good news. And I'd really like to figure out what's going on with my leg and all b/c it feels so weird!  I'll keep you all updated!

This is so confusing!

Oh good night! This is ridiculous! I will have to call KJ and find out what I am doing wrong for now..... hang on, don't go to someone else's blog!

My First Attempt

I have finally caved to peer pressure. I thought if Jane had the time to create a blog, I could too! :)

So that's all you get for now, since I'll work on the layout etc. and of course privacy settings! I am such an exciting blogger.... note the sarcasm....
